The DiGiTiTiON consists of six different competitions. Each competition is free to compete in, unique, and has its own set of rules inspired by the U.S. Coffee Championships.

BARISTA -> Competitors will be sent a Rancilio Silvia one-group espresso machine and Mahlkonig E65s grinder to create a three-course menu: single espresso, Pacific Foods plant-based Beverage, and a signature beverage from a pre-determined list of ingredients!

BREWING -> Competitors will be given a compulsory brewing device from Slow Pour Supply, a Fellow Kettle, and a Baratza grinder to create a custom blend of provided coffees and a brew recipe. Competitors will also create their own brewing device from crafty items. Get those creative hats out and get brewing!

ROASTING -> Competitors will create their version of both a light and a dark roasted coffee to be brewed on a Moccamaster and also work with a designer to create a custom bag for their coffee. It’s like creating a mini-roastery!

COFFEE & BOOZE —> The name of the game here is “Cocktail and food pairing!” Competitors will be given a list of classic cocktails and choose one to recreate adding in their glitterific flair and they must pair it with a food item. Who knew margaritas go so well with Reese’s????

TASTERS -> Competitors will test their taste buds and their noses with a series of triangulations. What’s a triangulation? They’ll be given three cups of liquid that all look the same, but will have to taste and smell to find the odd-one-out! Their taste buds will be tested with coffees from Boon Boona, TORANI syrups, and essential oils.

LATTE ART -> We aren’t looking for a gorgeous twenty-nine tiered rosetta or a cabin in the woods free pour. We want to see our latte artists pour three identical Corgi Butts (AKA monk’s heads) in a row, with Pacific Foods Barista Series Plant Based Beverages! The twist: one pour is into espresso, the next in TORANI chocolate sauce, and the final is into Hugo Tea Matcha. Don’t fret, there is a signature pour for their fourth and final cup and they can get as creative and wild as they want. They can use whipped cream and/or chocolate chips if they want. The world is their latte.

Special thanks to Pacific Foods Barista Series for being our presenting sponsor for a third year!

and to a new sponsor this year, Torani, who approached us looking to help provide resources for those who could use it!
